Pastor Susan Lancaster Garofalo began serving as Pastor of Riga Church on November 22, 2015. Her interest and call to ministry began at a very early age. She was baptized and confirmed at Asbury First United Methodist Church, in Rochester, NY. As a youth, Pastor Susan participated in the Sunday School program, youth choir, bell choir and youth fellowship. It was during her formative years at Asbury First that Pastor Susan became keenly aware of God’s presence in her life and in the world. In retrospect, she understood her experience as a youth to be God’s call to pursue pastoral ministry, a call that has continued to form and change throughout her life.
In 2008, Pastor Susan was accepted at Northeastern Seminary. That same year, she joined Webster Presbyterian Church, where she was ordained Elder and lovingly served the congregation through the utilization of her gifts of preaching, teaching and music. After four years of successful study and much growth, Pastor Susan earned her Master of Divinity degree. After graduation, she continued to serve Webster Presbyterian Church as a worship leader and served as chair for two committees: Spiritual Growth and Peace/Social Justice. At that time, Pastor Susan served as a Per Diem Chaplain for Rochester Regional Health Systems at Unity Hospital and as a Faith-Sharing Facilitator for Northeastern Seminary. She also volunteered her time to serve the community through local ministries, something Pastor Susan continues to do today.
God's ever-growing call, coupled with her studies, and her experience led Pastor Susan to Riga Church. Her undeniable love for people and passion for ministry translates well into her role as our pastor.
Regardless of where you are in your walk with God, you are truly welcome at Riga Church. Our worship begins at 10am each Sunday morning, with time for Fellowship immediately following. We look forward to God's blessing of meeting you. Join us!
